Building the Future

  • Hamilton has been appointed to advise and assist United Concepts Ltd, a Rwandan Public Private Partnership, with regard to the process by which an appropriately qualified hotel brand and operating company is identified, selected and engaged to manage two hotels in Rwanda. The hotels are (i) an approximately 300-room luxury business hotel to be located in the centre of Kigali, the capital of Rwanda and (ii) an approximately 80-room meetings and conference resort to be located at Kibuye on the shores of Lake Kivu in the west of the country. A initial visit to Rwanda was undertaken in early December 2008 and the Hamilton team returned from Rwanda full of praise for the spectacularly beautiful country, its people and both of the hotel projects.

  • Hamilton has been engaged to advise and assist Hallmark Properties Ltd with regard to the operational functionality of three hotels being developed by Hallmark in North and West London. This work is being performed in conjunction with specialist hotel architects Reardon Smith.

Recent and Upcoming Conferences

In addition, Frank hosted the first Webinar organised by Bench Events on 3rd November 2009, where he discussed the prospects for recovery of the hotel industry with Paul Slattery, Co-Founder and Director of Otus & Co. • Hamilton were proud sponsors of the 13th International Hotel Investment Forum held in Berlin, 8-10 March 2010. Our exhibition at the conference provided us with a fantastic opportunity to reengage with former clients and also to introduce ourselves to potential new clients. Frank Croston successfully moderated a lively plenary session where he discussed demand, pricing and revenue management in a challenging environment with Paul Brown, President of Global Brands and Commercial Services, Hilton Worldwide and Matthew Crummack, Senior Vice President, Expedia Partner Services Group. In addition, Frank moderated a second session, 'Asset Management in a Downturn', with the following industry professionals on his panel: Richard Eaton-Hart, Gengate Europe Ltd; Shane Harris, Moorfield Group Limited; Mark Hennebry, QCrest; Nick Skea-Strachan; Berwin Leighton Paisner LLP.

Following this session, Frank was interviewed by the Estates Gazette, where he urged the hotel industry to become more involved with asset managers in order to make the market more attractive to investors. • Hamilton are also pleased to be Gold sponsors of the Arabian Hotel Investment Conference 2010 in Dubai, 1-3 May. In addition to exhibiting, Frank Croston and Chris Evans will both be moderating sessions and their knowledge and insight into the hotel industry is expected to be, as always, especially well received. Their sessions will discuss the challenging relationships between operators and owners, and the role of asset managers respectively. We look forward to seeing many of our clients, both old and new.
